Compared to children's toys in general, there are not many outdoor toys to choose from but from the choice you have for your children, they can beat many indoor toys for fun, excitement and exercise which is always a benefit.

With indoor toys you have many types from small matchbox cars, railway sets, board games to modern toys such as a games console and desktop computer. With outdoor toys the main ones are trampolines, climbing frames, playhouses, go-karts and bikes in general

We are remember being young and venturing up and down on a climbing frame in the local park. These come in two different types, metal and wooden climbing frames. Metal frames in general consist of multiple bars standing on a tarmac surface with a variety of plastic shapes at the bottom to climbing through.

Wooden climbing frames took many ideas and gave children even more excitement which can now be replicated into your own back garden. Wooden climbing frames can start out as one particular model with more sections added on over time. They can have many activities such as commando climbing ropes, swings, slides, different towers which provides a sheltered play area as well as seating and sandpits.

Children's imagination can take all of this to the next level with both life skills and interaction with other children benefiting the outdoor playtime. An alternative to this is to sit in front of a TV screen looking at either their games console, PC or television and away from the fresh air and outdoor fun which is far from beneficial.

A more subtle outdoor toy is the wooden playhouse which can also be known as outdoor Wendy houses, children's summer houses and all incorporate sheltered fun all year round. The playhouse usually consists of one or more rooms in a wooden structure along with windows and a wooden door. For safety, the windows are made from shatterproof plastic, some with their own shutters.

The playhouse comes into its own with the ability to play outdoors but still under a roof so away from rain and wind. There are so many styles with playhouses aimed at girls, playhouses aimed at boys but also designs which will suit either. Some playhouses have a veranda, an upstairs level as well as a chimney. Many retailers stock different styles so have a good look around before deciding.

The most popular outdoor toy every single year, year in year out is the trampoline. This outdoor toys just springs excitement into children just by seeing one in their back garden or a friends back garden. The enthusiasm to bounce on a trampoline is hard to compete with so investing in a round, rectangular or Oval trampoline could be one of the best moves you make for your children's outdoor fun and exercise.

It is well known that bouncing on a trampoline is very good for you, lets children interact with each other, gain confidence and coordination and overall have excellent fun, sometimes hours at a time. One of the most popular trampolines in recent years is now the Jumpking OvalPOD which comes in two different sizes and In an oval shape instead of circular. This allows it to fit in different shaped gardens with the same brilliant fun as a round trampoline.

Lastly, Go Karts are still a popular outdoor toy but seem to have died out a little in recent times but still great fun. Many are pedal powered with one or two seats depending on the model and also good exercise as the effort to move a go kart can vary depending if it is being ridden on concrete or grass.
